The best way to get an idea of the current value of your own home is to compare your home to similar homes in your neighborhood that have recently sold.  I send out a monthly email report to my clients of the current sales in their subdivision for the past 12 months, so not only will you know what the house down the street from you sold for, but you will get a better idea of your own home's value in comparison to the neighboring homes that have recently sold.
